Every year the Society supports a number of students going to developing countries to volunteer for teaching or other educational activities for a minimum of six months provided that they are doing this through a known charity or twinning arrangement.   (In exceptional cases applications for placements of three to six months will be considered.)  Applications for 2012/13 must be submitted by the sponsoring organisation by 16 March 2012.

Typically in any one year 12 students receive grants and teach in nine countries. A few awards are made to support students coming to undertake a course of education in this country provided that they are sponsored by a known twinning organisation.
