The Society funds a wide range of projects around the world.

The Village Education Project, Kilimanjaro

Funding is provided to train teachers and improve primary schooling in the Kilimanjaro area of Tanzania.

Education for All in Laos

In conjunction with UNESCO, and as part of its worldwide promotion of Education for All, the Society is funding a programme to improve the inclusivity of all children in education in Laos, a country of limited resources, remote areas and a history of many children, especially girls, dropping out of school early.

Children in Crisis

Through Children in Crisis the Society is supporting a Community Education Project in Afghanistan to help reintegrate children back into schools by establishing community outreach education centres.

Love Russia

The Society is working with Love Russia on the Genesis Project which supports orphanage leavers as they enter further education to train for qualifications to make them eligible for work.

Project Sri Lanka

The University of Durham is benefiting from Society funds to build local education centres in villages in central Sri Lanka, where schooling is limited. Students from the university will supplement the teaching programme during their summer vacations.

HopeHIV

Education for the many thousands of HIV-affected orphans in Africa is a major problem. The Society is helping HopeHIV to provide educational facilities for these children in a number of countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

Bloomfield Learning Centre

This small specialist assessment and teaching unit for 6-16 year olds who suffer from dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties is supported by the Society. The centre is housed in part of the old Guys Hospital and serves the surrounding area.

Friends of Tafo

Grants from the Society have helped to improve facilities in a number of schools in Kwahu-Tafo, an impoverished area in Ghana.

NECAT

The Nicaraguan Education Culture and Arts Trust has received grants from the Society to provide bursaries that encourage children to attend and stay at primary school in a country with a high drop-out rate.
