Joan Cass (20th century)

Joan Cass had strong links with Darlington College. She was involved in the George Dent Nursery and was an examiner at the College for many years. At the time of the College closure she was a strong supporter of the campaign to keep the College open.

1. Collection of nineteenth century and early twentieth century children’s books. Many with bookplates. The Joan Cass Collection belongs to the British and Foreign School Society bequeathed by her niece.

2. Children’s story books written by Joan Cass. (She was a well known author). These belong to the Child Development Society.

3. Education books, ie Literature and the Young Child. Autographed copies from her library. These belong to the Child Development Society.

4. Two files containing notebooks, photos and pamphlets. These belong to the Child Development Society.
