The present catalogue includes all documents held at the Archive Centre up to the date of issue. The contents of the files of the schools records and of the student records are arranged chronologically. Details of the contents of each file are listed on the outside of the file. It is planned to produce a supplementary catalogue of photographs, portraits, badges and sports trophies held at the Archive Centre.

The main printed sources, including the Annual Reports of the B.F.S.S. (1814 to date), the Educational Record (1848 - 1929) and the Salmon Collection of early nineteenth century books on elementary education are described in the prospectus, which also gives information about current opening times. A description of the records of the B.F.S.S. was published in the Local Historian, Vol. XVI, 1984. The early records of the Society and the nineteenth century materials concerning its schools are of particular significance.
