Grant Holders' Workshop 2022

Membership

The BFSS is proud to be a Membership organisation, and welcomes and encourages applications from people who would like to join. Membership brings together a community committed to supporting the BFSS to deliver its vision of educational opportunity for all.

If you would like to apply to become a Member please register by clicking the button below.

The role of Members

Members are expected to share their ideas, skills and experience; to be part of a vibrant and engaged community, with the education of young people from low-income and marginalised communities at its heart. There is also a formal role for members, to nominate and elect from the Membership the Councillors and Officers of the BFSS.

Why become a Member?

Being a member gives the opportunity to engage with and learn from a community of interest. Members join like-minded people who have a passion to help improve the educational opportunities of young people in the UK and across the world. Members have access to the online BFSS Forum, receive newsletters three times a year and are invited to BFSS events including the annual conference and AGM.

Each year, BFSS holds its Annual General Meeting to which all members are invited. Members have the opportunity to bring resolutions to the meeting, to help drive the direction, strategy and operation of BFSS. It is also a chance to meet with other members, and share views and experience.

Members can join the online BFSS Forum to ask for advice, share resources and learning with other Members and Grant Holders.

Who should apply?

We are looking for members from a wide variety of backgrounds with an interest in educational opportunity for all. This includes, but is not limited to, those with a background in education, including teacher educators and teachers, as well as those with lived experience of the communities we work alongside, and professionals working in the charity sector. We welcome applicants with the passion to offer their skills and time to help young people succeed.

How to apply

If you would like to apply to become a Member please click here to register; your application is then reviewed by a membership group of Trustees.

Members are expected to abide by the principles contained in the BFSS Members’ Charter, which sets out the rights and responsibilities of Members and of the Trustees towards Members.
